Four Hands Debuts Antiques-Inspired Collection with Van Thiel

HIGH POINT (October 10, 2023) – Four Hands today announces the launch of the brand’s latest collaboration with international furniture designer Van Thiel. The collection, which debuts at High Point Fall Market, will feature more than 25 pieces with Van Thiel’s signature distressed finishes, fine details and artisanal craftsmanship and Four Hands’ quality and functionality. Market-goers can find the collaboration at Four Hands’ Showplace Suites showroom (#4101) from October 14 – 18, 2023.

“As we see customers returning to more traditional and heritage designs, we felt compelled to revisit our previous collaborations with Van Thiel, dip into their archives, and reimagine these designs for today’s home needs,” said Adam Dunn, Vice President of Design. “Customers will recognize old favorites and be introduced to brand new pieces.”

Rudy van Thiel Sr. opened an antiques store in 1969 and has been in the antiques and furniture industry for more than 50 years. When Rudy van Thiel Jr. wanted to join in the family business, they sought to create stronger growth opportunities by not only sourcing antiques but restoring and recreating them. Van Thiel is now the leading specialist in recreating antique finishes.

“The devil is in the details,” said Rudy van Thiel Sr. “It’s not just about the finishing’s effects — and we’ve studied finishes across the globe and developed a number of unique techniques — but also its application. Careful attention is given to the areas that would truly experience wear and tear.”

Every piece by Van Thiel has a playful name and narrative to go with it. “Heirlooms have a history and our designs do in their own way. Each of them has a story—and most of them are even true!” added Rudy van Thiel Sr.

The collection draws influences from found antiques including Scandinavian, English, French and Asian designs. Grand scales and exposed joints add a modern touch and weathering makes the new collection feel collected and curated.

The Four Hands x Van Thiel collection is available at Marketplace for retailers and interior designers. For more information on how to join the Four Hands Trade Program, visit here. Consumers can click here to find local retail stores carrying Four Hands products.
