Four Hands Announces New Collection with Designer Thomas Bina Launching October 2021

September 29, 2021 (Austin, Texas)Four Hands, the leading global designer and wholesaler of home furnishings, announced today the launch of a new lifestyle collection with renowned designer Thomas Bina. This collaboration is the continuation of a longstanding relationship between the two spanning almost 15 years and will feature the first upholstery collaboration Bina has designed for Four Hands. Driven by Brazilian design, Thomas Bina for Four Hands is set to debut at High Point Market on October 16-20, 2021, with plans to extend the partnership past the launch.

“We’re intentional and selective about who we partner with and felt that our collaboration with Thomas Bina not only brought something new to Four Hands but also allowed us to be true to who we are as a company,” says Adam Dunn, Four Hands Creative Director. “Bina’s design influences are rooted in nature and even though some styles will have a modern format or profile, they’re made with soft, reclaimed-looking materials that give it the air of age and nostalgia consumers have been seeking throughout the pandemic.”

For this new collection, Bina worked alongside Brazilian designer Ronald Sasson to create pieces featuring sculptural curves and negative space that feel both relevant and timeless. Inspired by their global travels, the two designers worked with new material combinations, such as concrete and wood, weaving Brazilian design elements throughout to create sophisticated, relaxed pieces. Thomas Bina for Four Hands will focus on bringing a unique design perspective, incorporating compelling craftsmanship with a combination of hard and soft materials to create an elevated juxtaposition that exudes luxury. 20+ pieces to include dining tables, end tables, coffee tables, nightstands, dressers, and seating.

“Discovering new materials is what inspires me the most,” says Thomas Bina. “It’s when I see a new material and get to know it that my imagination comes alive.” Each piece of material in the collection was hand-selected for a specific purpose, such as using knotty woods and wrinkly fabric to show movement.

“Four Hands and I share the same aesthetic, and it's been a pleasure to bring this collection to life. It's a natural partnership with mutual respect and trust. In a business sense, we see eye to eye and have always supported each other,” says Bina. “Different from prior collaborations, we’ve taken a more modern sculptural take with a heavier focus on upholstery, making this one of the best collaborations I’ve ever done.”

Thomas Bina for Four Hands highlights include:

Marley Sofa and Chair

Featuring generous seating, the Marley sofa and chair feature a soft-edged plinth base that cleverly wraps the back. The Marley pieces offer livable luxury elements such as their upholstery made with a high-performance fabric exclusive to Four Hands that causes spills to bead up on the top surface for easy care and cleaning.

Gareth Swivel Chair

‘80s inspiration brought to modern speed, the 360-swivel Gareth Chair is an inflated silhouette with Brazilian detailing featuring a voluminous seating style in a light grey 100% recycled performance fabric or a hand-selected top-grain leather with luxurious softness and supple character.

Branon Dining Chair

Made from 100% recycled performance fabric, the Branon Dining Chair is a sleek and modern armless, cantilever-style seating option supported by a slim, airy base of brushed bronze iron. A great seating option for a mixed-material-driven dining space.
