Introducing Luxury Games & Game Tables
Always steering the design trend curve, Four Hands is pleased to introduce a new style category to our product catalog: luxury game tables and tabletop games. Think table hockey, ping pong, foosball, poker, dominoes, and more.
“The time is right for these products, as more people continue to entertain at home,” says Four Hands Product Developer Jacqueline O’Neill, who oversaw the launch of this new line. “We’re pleased to take this style trend to the next level, with high-end materials and quality craftsmanship.”
Established Vendor History
For this collection, we worked with our longtime partner, a family-run factory that’s been responsibly sourcing woods for over 30 years and hand-selecting distinctive-looking woods from fallen forest trees. The Mexico-based manufacturer is the maker behind many top-selling Four Hands styles.
Maximizing use of materials, the factory aims for zero waste in all they produce. For example, our new Tic Tac Toe game is carved from the interior of our Live Edge Bowl to utilize all parts of a naturally fallen tree and minimize waste.
Quality Assurance
At the core of these pieces is quality. Each game has been made by skilled artisans who have been practicing their art for years and even generations.
Only the finest materials are used, such as exotic Guanacaste, oxidized metals with distinct patterns caused by natural elements like sunlight and rain, plus hand-applied veneers (which allow for more control over the distinctive character of each piece).
All woods and metals for these styles have been selected, treated, kiln-dried and finished by hand, making each high-end game truly unique.
Here, materials come first, then design. “Woods predict the final product, not necessarily the designer,” says O’Neill. “We want these special materials to direct the whole design, celebrating woods’ natural imperfections and making something beautiful from them.”
It’s All About Artisanship
Substantial in size and style, each game takes time plus skilled precision to create, which pays off in its final look. Timelines vary, from one week (for ping pong) to six weeks (for dominoes, whose self-storing case takes one day to build before air-drying for weeks after).
Table hockey, for further example, is made from a blend of hand-finished Mexican oak and metal that’s been aged through a manual month-long process, with beautiful highs and lows from natural elements. Its specially designed scratch-resistant finish took one year in development, ensuring a smooth play and seamless look.
Supreme Style
While expert production ensures great quality, it’s sculptural bases and thoughtful details that make these games innovative accent pieces sure to spark conversation.
